病弱を与えられた

富みを求めたのに
賢明であるようにと
貧困を授かった
　
世の中の人々の賞賛を得ようとして
成功を求めたのに
得意にならないようにと
失敗を授かった

人生を享楽しようとあらゆるものを求めたのに
あらゆることを喜べるようにと
いのちを授かった

求めたものは一つとして与えられなかったが
願いはすべて聞き届けられた

神の意に添わぬ者であるにもかかわらず
心の中で言い表せないものは
すべて叶えられた

私はあらゆる人の中で
もっとも豊かに祝福されていたのだ
